Good News for New Mothers
A victory for breastfeeding rights in South Carolina
In the heart of the conservative south, laws protecting a women's right to breastfeed are making headway. Yesterday a measure that allows women the right to breastfeed wherever they have the right to be has passed the South Carolina senate, after being approved in the state's house of representatives in February. The bill also exempts breast-feeding from indecent exposure laws, and although South Carolina's governor has not committed to signing the bill into law, his spokesperson has stated that the governor "sees nothing wrong with the bill so far, but he wants to review it further when it hits his desk."

Holiday Greetings Family and Friends
We started out 2004 with the birth of our son Thomas James "TJ" on January 28. He continues to grow and change every day. So far this year we have seen him learn to roll over, crawl, climb the stairs, say mama, stand by him self and even take a few steps on his own. He has cut 5 teeth and there are 2 more on their way. He has a great love for his big sister. He laughs and smiles at her like he does for no one else. He flirts with the girls no matter what age and brings lots of smiles and happiness wherever he goes. He is an active little boy with great curiosity. He doesn't know a stranger (at least not yet); he likes everyone! We look forward to what 2005 has in store for him.

Hospital Trip 1
Up today and expectantly we went to the hospital after some contractions and vaginal bleeding for about an hour this morning. After being checked in and having been connected to a monitor to watch babies heart beat and my contractions. I was given IV fluids and some pain medicine for the contractions and spent hours in the hospital bed, only to be woken up and told to go home and wait. The contractions have calmed down and I am feeling better although still very sleepy. Pain meds wiped me out quickly and took over my being and I was feeling loopy. I was told to eat and not get dehydrated. I spent afternoon sleeping and feel like I could continue to do so now although I am trying very hard to keep awake.
